What We Do
Peterborough Lions Club exists to serve — that is what the name means, and it is what we do week in, week out. While fundraising pays for much of our work, service is the reason we raise money in the first place.
Welfare in Peterborough
Locally, we support people and organisations who need practical help: food poverty, isolation, mobility, sensory impairment, and the everyday gaps that statutory services cannot always fill. We listen to what the community needs, then roll up our sleeves — whether that is delivering a project ourselves or partnering with charities who know their clients best. - Community Minibus — affordable transport for local groups
- Showtime — our variety show, which brings the community together for an evening of entertainment
- Club Projects — longer-running partnerships and grants, from the soup kitchen to international appeals
- Deaf Aware — hearing-health awareness and support via the Lions Hearing Trust
- Lions Roar — primary-school ideas competition with ready-made lesson plans
- Peace Poster — international art contest for young people on the theme of peace
- Caps of Courage — handmade caps for children and young people affected by cancer
- Children’s books & activity packs — books and patient activity packs for hospital wards, schools, and local children’s groups
We also run sight-related recycling through Lions Recycle For Sight (under Club Projects).
